Tamed Simulacrum 2024
INI Project Prostor (Prague, Czech Republic)
Performative degustation for 20 people, 60 min.

This six-course tasting functioned as both a performative experiment and a conceptual investigation into the feminization of nature, food politics, and the enduring myth of the Maidens’ War. Commissioned by the Prague-based collective Divoká Šárka, the project was situated within ongoing conversations around the Rights of Nature.

Rooted in feminist economics, the work highlighted the structural invisibility of unpaid labor. Scholars have long warned that if domestic and reproductive work were adequately compensated, the global economy would risk collapse. This project extends that logic to environmental justice—proposing that if natural processes were assigned fair economic value, capitalism itself would become unsustainable. In both cases, labor is acknowledged only in terms of its extractive value, rather than its fundamental role in sustaining life.

Each course advanced this narrative, weaving together fermentation, culinary symbolism, and the subversive legend of the Maidens’ War to explore these interlinked systems of care, exploitation, and resistance.
